Crayon project

Why so many collages of the kids and crayons? The crayon pictures, the background and also what looks like a bunch of melted crayons...is actually; melted crayon.

Whilest in California visiting the Burrill's the kids left crayons in a plastic container, in the car, in the sun. As it turns out the sun melted the crayons and made a beautiful piece of art. haha.

So I am making two 8'x8' collage prints (included in this blog entry) to put into two shadow boxes. I also still have the chunks of melted crayon which I will then place inside each of the shadow boxes as well.

I had to make the collages, which I think I finally have the ones I like so I have uploaded them to good ol' snapfish to get quality prints done. :)

Evan's Drawing

Whilest in Mexico I bought the kids a key chain with a Scorpion in it. The kids were drawing today and Evan drew the picture while looking at the key chain. He is 3. Now, I did not see him draw it, the kids got excited and told me I had to see his drawing.

If he did draw it...wow!

If he did not draw it, then Jaiden did and I would still say wow! He is 7.

The Beetle

Chapala Mexico

Jenn and I just got back from a week in Chapala, Mexico with Holly and Lowell. It was a great week. It started out a little chilly as it got down in the 40's at night but it eventually started to warm up.

We were able to visit with Pat and Esther Watson while we were there as they moved there from Guam. It was great seeing them as well. They have a beautiful home with 3 dogs that came with them.

Pat also had a small space heater which we borrowed and which made Jenn VERY happy. It was cold at night and the house we were in did not have a furnace.

We saw many sites, walks along the beach, a carriage ride in Guadalajara, a few old Churches and shopping from street vendors.

There were very unique doors in Mexico which we started to take pictures off and also a large number of old Volkswagen Beetles.

The people were very nice and language was not much of an issue at all.

We had a great time! Thanks to Holly and Lowell for the invite.

Temps, Mexico, Lows and Dogs

So Jenn and I are heading to Mexico soon to visit with Mom and Dad. We are very excited to go to a warm climate in Jan. I was checking the temps the other day and I looked up average temps in Chapala in Jan. What do I find? The Low's get down to the mid FORTIES?!!!

Let's see Jan, Mexico, Sunshine what is with the low FORTIES?!!! I will need to bring warm clothes. It stated Jan is the coldest month of the year?!!

However, with that said...please keep in mind low forties let's just call is 42. This morning I woke up and it will be 60 degrees WARMER than where I am at today to simply reach the low in Mexico. HA.

Yes, it is -22 below this morning and that is not wind chill. Luckily it is starting to warm up...it is now -18. NICE.

Even my dog says it is too cold. I let her out to go pee...she came back in and I think she told me to F-off...peed in the house. I don't know if I blame her. LOL oh my.

Beds

Soooo, many of you do not know but Evan the little guy always wanted to sleep with me. Every night even if he went to sleep in his own bed...was always with me in the morning in my bed. On one hand...being the youngest this will be the last little guy to snuggle with me so I did not mind too bad. I also did not have much of a bed for him...until now.

I had been searching for a while and finally found the craigslist special I had been looking for. The Study Loft Bunk Bed!! The beds are both twin beds, there is a desk on one end with a light, small shelves on the inside for Evan down below and then dresser drawers on the other end, all of which you will see in the pictures above!

Last night was the first night, Jenn and Ryan came over and they helped (well...probably mostly Jenn :)   ) helped the kids clear the existing toys, beds, etc out of the room while my neighbor and I went to get the bed. We set it up last night so it was the first night. I woke up this morning and Evan was NOT in bed with me, in fact he woke me up and was all excited and told me I had to come see his bed. So we spent the next hour sitting on his bed, which he is still in there now as write this.

Hopefully the excitement will continue. He is in a big boys bed now, growing up so fast!! :)

As for Jaiden...he is very excited as well. He loves the bed, loves the new dresser space and his desk.

It's one of those things that bring peace of mind. :)
